The Need
It is the job of a professional driver to get their riders safely and securely from one location to the next. While this is critical for everyone who gets behind a wheel, bus drivers are entrusted by each person who gets on board to be responsible and prioritize their safety above all else.
Technological monitoring capabilities have improved dramatically in the last few years. Cameras that until recently were large, bulky, and unaffordable are now sleek and convenient, and can provide real-time and retrospective information about driver behavior.
The Challenges
- Hardware: Cameras need to be physically installed in the bus, connected to power, and maintained
- Cost: Cameras can be expensive to purchase and in monthly fees
- Usability: How to sort through mountains of video to find exactly what you’re looking for
Our Solution
We are proud to introduce BusWhere Vision. Our Vision product includes a state of the art 2-lens camera that monitors the road and the driver simulatenously. with a single small device that attaches to the windshield, your organization can ensure the safety of passnegers, compliance with laws, and awareness of road conditions and traffic signs.
Our solution is comprised of the following key components:
- A physical camera that is easy to install or replace if needed, with a SIM card for cellular real-time monitoring
- On-camera AI-enabled software capable of detecting dangerous driver behaviors such as checking a mobile phone, distractions, yawning, etc.
- Computer-vision technology to read road signs and detect stop signs, red lights, and speed limits
- A robust portal that quickly shows full videos of any problems, and allows easy querying of any data from any time period
- Up to a week of full, unedited video available for download in addition to the automatically flagged and saved sections
- A training interface for managers to train drivers by showing them incidents that were flagged
Studies have shown a measurable improvement in driver performance in the aftermath of training based on video data. This results in fewer accidents, injuries and fatalities.
By automatically identifying key video sections, we are able to minimize the amount of data sent over the cell network, which lets us keep costs as low as possible.
Additional cameras to monitor passengers are also available, to be installed anywhere on the bus that is desired.
Cameras and driver monitoring solutions are increasingly required by RFPs and state / federal regulations.
