Q. I am a parent, and I want BusWhere now. How do I start?

A.This is our favorite question! From the home page, enter your email address. You will receive an email confirmation for validation purposes so we can keep the system secure. Click on the link in that email and fill out a short form to indicate your interest in a specific school and bus route. We will contact your school to start setting things up and let you know when things are all ready to go.

Q. I run the bus program for a school, and I want BusWhere now. How do I start?

A. Please get in touch and we’ll be happy to talk about how you can get it set up for your school. You can start with a trial on a single bus with no commitment and add other buses as you go. You will get our messaging portal, full route logging, and staff accounts, and you can choose the Parents Included plan to offer the service to parents for free.

Q. I am a director of transportation for a school district, and I want BusWhere now. How do I start?
A. Please get in touch and we’ll help you get started. You can try it out with a single bus, and you’ll immediately get full logging and history for that bus. When you’re ready, you can set up a school and a few sample routes that that bus runs. At that point you’ll start to see ETA’s at any stop along the route. We can then add as many buses as you like and invite parents to the program when you’re ready. We work closely with you to ensure a successful rollout and are available to help throughout.
Q. How does BusWhere work?

A. BusWhere is an easy way for parents, students, and bus administrators to easily find bus locations and arrival times. Once a school creates an account, we will ship a device for each bus, preconfigured with our tracking app. The administrator can configure stops on each route via an easy-to-use administration website and then send email invitations to view a given route. After creating an account, registered users are then given access to a map with the bus’s current location and speed, a list of stops, and estimated arrival times at any stop of interest.

Q. How much does it cost?

A. The service cost is covered by the school or district, and discounts are available for larger fleets. The school’s Director of Transportation should contact to arrange a demo and discuss options for pricing.

Q. Our school uses buses from a third party bus company. Can we give them permission to view the bus position as well?

A. Absolutely! Any school bus company running BusWhere buses gets to see all of their buses on the map as well.

Q. Is the information about my child's whereabouts safe?

A. We’re very glad you asked this question, as safety is of primary importance to us. Because the information sent back and forth between the device and the website contains sensitive information about the location of school buses, all communication is encrypted via SSL. While the app is available to all via the iTunes store, only parents who have received an invitation to their email address can join the system, and permissions to view routes are only given via these personal email invitations, controlled by and monitored at all times by a responsible party at the school.

Q. I am a bus administrator. What does this system offer me?

A. From the moment that your buses receive our GPS-enabled tracking devices, you will be able to provide real-time information to the parents about the bus whereabouts and arrival times. Your account will have access to all of the routes, so you can log in and see the same thing the parents are seeing for each route. You will have access to historical data on each route for any given day, so you can monitor arrival and departure times for your buses. You will also be able to send timely updates to certain or all users on a given bus, to share information about delays or anything else that needs to be conveyed to the parents on those routes. Q. As a parent, where do I see the location of the bus and its ETA?

A. You can log into the portal at, or download our iPhone/iPad or Android app, for more convenient access. Either login will permit you to set up favorite stops and show you, minute-by-minute, where the bus is and estimate the time when it should arrive at those stops.
